Someone who is an advocate and change agent in both action and word is eligible for this recognition.

2020 Dr. Rick Marlatt, College of Education, Division Director of Teacher Education

Rick has made a major impact on our distance education offerings and online opportunities at NMSU. He has quickly become a leader in creating cutting edge virtual learning opportunities for both undergraduates and graduates. He has created or redesigned and obtained QM certification for 5 courses. His teaching evaluations are superb. The COE nominated Rick for the Patricia Christmore Teaching Award in 2019. As the interim Division Director for Teacher Education, Rick supports faculty members as they teach online during the pandemic, some for the first time. He is also supporting faculty to modify their in-person methods coursework into virtual learning modules. He has served our college immensely by revamping our LLC MA program and helping transition it into a fully online program with NMSU-O. He has even created hybrid courses in our Teacher Education Program for students who must otherwise travel great distances to attend class on campus, which has increased enrollment. For these reasons and more, I believe Rick is most deserving of this award."
